A Poem on Friendship by Dr. Shruti Shankar Gaur

Yet we met again.
Year after year,
Growing more insane.
When we all are together,
I can be me,
I can blurt out anything,
These friendships I cherish,
We are no more friends
We are a family with different names.
Rohit’s cherry on the top,
Punit’s one-liners,
Paritosh’s Buffalo Trace,
Mano and her ingenuity,
Priyam, my dancing san,
Pooja & Pravesh, our yin & yang,
And what can I say of Vidit Shankar & his many slangs.
No one will believe I am a teetotaler,
Because I am totally drunk,
When we all gather,
I am drunk with laughter,
I am drunk with love,
I am drunk with the after-effects thereafter.
My wish is we continue,
to meet again & again,
As our children grow,
we too grow wild & free,
Like old wine,
We brew the old charm time & again.
There’s no façade, and There’s no guise,
There’s no pretense & there’s no hood
You can be you,
I can be me,
And we can be us,
Without any disguise.
As we meet time & again!
